Congratulations, You have just found “the most enjoyable way to meet a steady stream of the most interesting and interested single people in the area,” says Barry Adelson, chapter director of the South Florida chapters of The Single Gourmet. Elegant evenings of dining and conversation top menus of fun with The Single Gourmet, where singles meet and feast in four and five star restaurants. The atmosphere is always different each week, sometimes 2 – 3 times a week.

The organization has been in existence well over 20 years and its objective is to bring single people together in a hassle free environment that is totally different from the bar scene, singles dance buffet groups (which are normally held in night clubs or bars), very expensive dating services or Internet services.

“The secret of our success is that we offer single people the opportunity to meet quality people in very safe environments,” say’s Laura Simoncini, Adelson’s business partner. Adelson and Simoncini are no strangers to the singles industry. They have a combined background of over 35 plus years and know just about every aspect of what singles are looking for. “We feel that we offer a social setting that is far superior to any other singles situation,” said Simoncini. The yearly membership to join The Single Gourmet is only $99. Once a member, then every month a newsletter and calendar of events is mailed and from that members

can select from the different weekly dinner events that they wish to attend. Of course, the restaurants that are selected are some of the best, well known restaurants in the area. “This certainly is not a $10. buffet crowd or an early bird special”, Simoncini said. “With over 2600 active members in the local area they stay busy and active.

A typical night out with The Single Gourmet starts out with their traditional social hour where members can unwind, maybe have a cocktail and meet some members that may not be seated at the same table. The dinner portion of the evening will include four, sometimes five course meals with lots of selections, some wine with dinner and tax and tip included for one group rate price depending what can be arranged with the restaurants owners or managers. Dinners can range from $35. – $59. inclusive.

Seating at the dinner events are assigned according to age and interest. “This creates comfort for all ages to attend our functions,” said Adelson. “We have all ages in our organization from the 20’s thru the 80’s. The comfort zone for each individual is normally in their own age group. So assigning seating according to age and interest normally works very well,” says Simoncini. The organization normally takes over entire restaurants for the evening and this assures all in attendance lots of opportunity to have pleasant conversation, make new friends and just maybe, meet that special someone. “We also try to have lots of dinner dances as well, these are very popular,” said Adelson. The Single Gourmet can also accom- modate strict vegetarians, people with dietary restrictions and those who are restricted for religious reasons. “In each case, we are able to make membership in The Single Gourmet a very enjoyable experience,” said Simoncini.

This is a very popular organization for singles and you don’t have to be a gourmet to join. “We have all backgrounds in our organization which include Teachers, Lawyers, Doctor’s, Nurses, Police Officers, Business Owners, Postal Employees, Secretaries and retirees both young and old,” said Adelson. It really is a melting pot of all different backgrounds. As an added incentive, The Single Gourmet also periodically schedules travel events, wine tastings and some cultural events, but the main focus of attention is dining out at great restaurants.
